Cache is a process to store website information, including multimedia items, so the browser can retrieve the information without having to connect to the server every time for new information. Allowing the browser to cache certain objects can greatly increase a websites performance. However, there may be times when you will need to tell your browser to download fresh content (and overwrite the currently cached objects). This is common when a CSS change is made but not visible, or a new image is still showing as an old one.
